One of the things I always find interesting is the way Japanese view and assimilate western traditions, and since tis' the season, why not list out some Christmas episodes from anime. It'd make good fodder if we decide to have a screening any time soon.
Love Hina Christmas Special
Irresponsible Captain Tylor OVA Episode 6: White Christmas
Both of these are the classic romance date type christmas episodes that is quite common to anime in the romance genre. The Love Hina christmas special also stands out as one of the high points of the anime version of the franchise.
Azumanga Daioh Episode 17
Azumanga is always fun, and Sakaki's chiyo's father = santa fantasy is icing on the proverbial cake.
The Big O episode 11: Daemonseed
This is one of my favourites cos it provides quite a unique perspective on the holiday due to the nature of the show. Basically all of humanity lost their memories of anything before 40 years prior, so even though they don't quite remember the significance or even the real name of the holiday they are celebrating, they still go through the rituals as a way of clingin on to whatever memories they have left.
Feel free to add on.
